Poster Presentations
Posters will be divided into sessions and displayed in a large area at the congress centre. Authors will be required to be available for questions and further information at their poster board during the session breaks.
During the closing ceremony, the best posters will be awarded with books kindly provided by Oxford University Press. The choice of the winners will be based on the already done blindly score of the abstracts, and on a successive evaluation of the posters presented at the Congress by two members of the Scientific Committee.
Technical instructions:
- The required dimensions are 0.90 m. width by 1.50 m. height
- On the top of the board should be indicated: title of the paper, name(s) of the author(s), and affiliation (s)
- Authors are requested to display their poster in the poster area by 09:00 on the day reserved for them and to remove it by 18.30 on the end of the Congress.
Some instructions for preparing and presenting your poster
- We advise to divide the text into: Objective, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions.
- The text should be complete but concise. Try to emphasize concepts, highlighting the most important words and sentences. Avoid unnecessary tables, graphs, and details.
- Use font sizes readable at a reasonable distance (1,5 meters).
- The presenter should stand near his/her poster during the session to answer the audience questions.
- If you deem it useful, you can prepare poster copies to distribute (A4 or letter format).
Oral Presentations
Only Power Point presentations will be admitted in all sessions. Authors will deliver their presentations to the slide preview room at least two hours before beginning of the session or the day before for early morning sessions.
Time and length of the presentation will be indicated in the acceptation letter.
Some instructions for preparing and presenting the slides for the Oral Presentations
- In general, there should not be more slides than speaking time in minutes.
- Try to be concise and direct in communicating your message. Focus on methods, results, conclusions, avoiding lengthy introductions and unnecessary details.
- Presentations should be visible in the whole room. Stand 2-3 meters away from the monitor and verify you can read your presentation clearly; when in doubt, increase font size.
- The contrast between the colour of the letters and the background should be maximized. Avoid red text on blue background, yellow text on white background, and vice-versa.
- For individual slide format, you could follow the "rule of 7": 7 lines with 7 words each. In any case, avoid writing many lines of text and complex tables and graphs.
- When presenting your work, try to clearly underline the main concepts, avoiding read the text on slide.
- It is important to allow sufficient time for discussion. Please reserve 3-5 minutes of your speaking time to questions and comments. Presenters will not be allowed more than the assigned time for presentation.
