The Maccacaro Awards 2010
Since 2007 the Associazione Italiana di Epidemiologia (AIE) at the end of its annual Congress awards the best young oral presenters a prize entitled to Giulio Alfredo Maccacaro, one of the founders of Epidemiology in Italy.
Within EUROEPI 2010 two Maccacaro Awards of 1,200 and 1,000 Euros will be assigned.
The Scientific Committee wishes to thank all the participants to the Maccacaro Awards for adhering to the initiative. The abstracts have blindly scored by two independent reviewers: those selected for oral presentations by researchers less than 40 years will concur to the Awards. The choice was not easy: we received more than 100 requests of participation and only 40 could be accepted.
We look forward to seeing you in Florence.
Conditions of participation
Authors who want to participate to the Maccacaro Award should:
- state their willing to participate when submitting the Abstract (an Author may participate with only one work);
- have had a substantial role in the work;
- be first author and presenter of the work;
- be less than 40 years old (as of 6 November 2010);
- be selected for oral presentation.
Evaluation
A group of judges will select the best abstracts, and the authors will be invited to present their work orally. The works selected will then be evaluated during the congress EUROEPI 2010. The following aspects of the study will be considered:
- scientific interest and originality of the work;
- interest for public health;
- ability in presenting the work.
Award ceremony
The best presentations will be announced at the EUROEPI 2010 closing session.
